Kit setup

Imagine if we had to meet up and travel as a unit. Again, look at it from 10k feet. If people had to buy gear, they can use our guide and be more compatible with other units. Think less one-off and more combat militia... if you are in a unit, what would that unit generally want you to bring. Comms, aid, firepower, armor, Basecamp, etc. We as uspc should put together a basic core list of things a local unit should have I'd think.
Yes.

If @PointRider @Tendiex @x-cop etc. Came up with our official load out recommendations, that would be valuable as heck.
Yeah i can. Let me go through the load out we used for approach load and try to customize it for our mission essentials.

Point Raider is spot on stick with Ar's and glock 9mm. Not cuz it's "best" ( it's good stuff) but for durability and resupply.

I have sigs and FN's too. It's not worth the price difference for most people and the after market support isnt there.

Shotguns. Mossberg is the way to go since Remington went under. Benelli and Beretta make great stuff.... but again prce point and resupply. 12 ga obviously.

Standardization or at least gear compatibility is a halmark of even small poorly funded military units. Look into the Spanish Maquee during WWII, and the IRA and their organization set up. While they didn't have standardized equipment they created an SOP that people knew no mater where they ended up or who they were working with.

OK on my LBE (we had the flc)

Going top down for my load out (well mine was wierd cuz i was a M203 grenadier so i'll drom the 20. 40 mm grenades off the list)

Top right was a m67 grenade pouch ( i usually also had a lensatic compass tied there) For us i'd make that a smoke or CS gas grenade

Top left was supposed to be a flash bang or utility pouch. have a multi plyer, and some glow stick s in there and usually an MRE peanut butter or some quick calories (I never had a flash bang on an FTX ever.) You CAN get civilian legal flash bangs, i'd get some. They are usually for airsoft and range in at 120 -145 decibles

Beside those two pouches i have a grimlocks to attach gloves 550 cord manage com cables etc etc

Moving to the waist. 2 mag panels of 3 mags either side, one on right also has a double AR mag pouch, mine on the left now holds 4 handgun mags instead of 6 40 mm grenades like i did for the Guard.

Back left hip is a radio pouch. It'll hold a kenwood or a baow feng or a lot of other normal size coms.

Back right is my IFAK with an extra CAT and emt Sheers. I also stuff an extra combat gauze in my left shoulder pocket.

we didn't carry much on our belts then. I had another cat on the belt, and my knife and that was about it. I never carried a handgun in the guard.

Ok my battle belt that i made to use with this set up/ or my plate carriers now. Be aware that i shoot long guns left handed and pistols right so it's a little odd. Battel belt is a knock off of ronin tactical.

right side of the buckle i have one Esstac Ar mag pouch, next to it 2 Esstac pistol mag pouches, then i have a Safariland low ride (not thigh ride, not low drop) ALS holster for my Glock 17 on an QLS set up so i can switch out for a sig or a FN or another Glock easily. There is a thigh retention strap.
Behind the holster i have a dump pouch for my rifle mags.
Left of the buckle i have a Kbar brand close combat knife. Little short kinda half bowie half karambit. https://www.kabar.com/products/product.jsp?item=1480

Then 2 more Esstac kiwi handgun pouches. Then a radio pouch, then a mini IFAk. Just emt sheers gauze and a cat.

My plate carrier can be run slick or with mags or under the FLC. i also have FLCS that are different for ex if i run my AR 10 or a shotgun.

Mags are usually p mags, i'll change colors based on season and location. I'd LIKE to get a white version of this set up for the 9 months of winter. UCP pat actually isnt that bad in the winter here, so i still have a bunch to use with my over whites. I can wrap mags in the white clothes no adhesive medical tape in the winter as well as some other gear, or you can get the same thing in Multical alpine as "camo form" brand.https://www.gearaid.com/products/camouflage-gun-wrap-camo-form?variant=18469277401185

But that should give you guys some ideas.

I'll get some pics of stuff but i dont have my phone on me at the moment.

The vests i'm selling are similar to an FLC, the current vest is now the TAP, tactical assault panel. I have a couple but i'm not thrillhttps://www.fortbraggsurplus.us/TAP-Tactical-Assault-Panel-with-Accessory-Pouches--Multi-CamOCP_p_3249.htmled with it so far.

My oldest got all his TA 50 finally this weekend and now has newer gear than me, but he's still a generation or so behind as he's not combat arms or active duty.

Very very helpful!

Good i hope so.

So pulling what we had in the "Assualt bag" Bag down to what we can get / carry.

Stay warm, get the job done, get back. That includes staying hydrated getting casualties mobile or at least stable and keeping calories in you.

Get a military poncho, a poncho liner, and a wool military blanket and make a "ranger roll" you can wrap up in it to stay warm, heck you can sew it all in to a pannel and make it into a bed roll and then get a 2nd poncho and you can get through all but the coldest of temps if you stay in your cold weather gear.

which brings us to get an EWCS suit or comparable rain gear, and then get the cold weather liners, its Wisconsin. It gets cold. Heavy thermal socks and the cold weather boots. If you cant get cold weather boots get some i size too big, water proof them, get the gortex booties and some good heavy wool socks.

And then get more socks.

Chem lights, IR if you get nods.

Titanium, or aluminum tent stakes in od green

550 cord both a big roll and then a bunch of prcuts for your bivy or hooch to set it up should you need to shelter in place in the outdoors. Or even inside a building with no heat to contain as much heat as possible.

a fire kit... to make fires

Heavy duty gloves, not combat gloves like thick work gloves. If you have to touch something very hot, or move debris or make barricades or handle barbed wire or rappel these com in handy.

A rope, od green or black a precut section to make a swish seat and enough to rappel at least 3 stories.

One or 2 raided mres, or comparable, raided down to be as nutrient dense and light and space saving as possible.

Tools, maybe an e tool per person. But in your group you need an e tool, maybe a medium sledge hammer and probably a solid axe between the group of 3 - 5. If a crew is more of a sapper / breacher or engineer team maybe add a chanisaw, hammer drill with bits, etc with all the Milwakee/ Dewalt/ Riobye type tools out you could do that way lighter than back in the day.

If you have a medic they need a CLS kit or similar (combat life saver) it's a squad size medical kit for more serious injuries. Individually maybe get a blow out kit in your pack for serious wounds and or burns. For treatment after the immediate 1st aid has been given. This could include treatments for nausea, heat injuries, frost bite etc.

another huge important one is WATER FILTRATION AND WATER. We carried a full camel back and 2 1 quart canteens. I'd recomend at least that OR that and a solid commercial portable water filter. YOU WILL DIE of water born pathogens in a true SHTF grid down WAYYYY before you'll get in a fire fight from what history has taught us. Do NOT drink IFFY water. But you also have to stay hydrated. At FTX, or basic, back at RCT training... or at a SCA "war", i seriously will go the easily 2 gallons of water a day minimum if not more. Just moving around in kit will burn through water.

Maps of your AO. We will not be able to use or count on GPS. Preferably grid maps and a good solid lensatic compass.

Various types of lights, some small red lights for reading maps, for not running in to things. Red lenses and use at a minimum to not give away position to whoever. Then maybe ONE bright white light as a weapon light for IFF and target designation.

Last a dry bag with your hygene kit and maybe one change of clothes. For us these might be just regular normal gray man clothes to camo in suburban urban areas, or just another set of clean warm clothes. This also should include multiple layers to deal with weather to be warm but not bulky.

Ok thats more or less an approach load with all the stuff like RTO gear and my 203 kit or mines or anti tank rockets and stuff we aint got removed.

Error on the side of making it too light, cus you gotta haul it. And the specifics change with mission and situation. Water calories staying warm are your main priorities, then the rest.

OH and remember that doesnt include body armor helmets weaponry etc etc etc your hauling in a SHTF / WROL/ grid down scenatrio. So if you NEEED a rifle do you really NEEEEED both a e tool and a sledge and the rope if your in a small town with almsot all wood buildings and none really over 2 stories? Just remember the situation/ mission dictates whats needed
