Fox and the WSJ are letting Allan Dershowitz make his big announcement about leaving the Democratic Party, and praising him in the process.
Do they suddenly have selective memory loss? He was Epstein’s lawyer!
Dershowitz helped negotiate a sweetheart deal for Epstein in 2008 with no federal sex trafficking charges, and just over a year in jail with work release.
This light sentence set him free to build his sex trafficking empire.
When asked whether he feels regret for the 2008 Epstein plea deal, Dershowitz said, “That’s what I do, and I would do it again.”
He’s just doing his job, right?
Ok, then what about the fact that one of Epstein’s most prominent victims, Virginia Giuffre, said she had been trafficked to Dershowitz?
Giuffre later withdrew her allegations, saying she may have been mistaken. Was she mistaken, or trying to protect herself? In 2024, she was found dead, said to have taken her own life, but there were doubts cast on that claim.
Then there’s this.
Dershowitz once argued, in a controversial op-ed, that the age of consent could be lowered to 15 under certain constitutional interpretations. He justified this by saying:
“I stand by the constitutional (not moral) argument I offered in my controversial oped: if a 16 year old has the constitutional right to have an abortion without state or parental interference, how could she not have the constitutional right to engage in consensual sex?”
That’s the problem. He reduces everything to a legal argument, and the moral line never quite shows up.
Along with this, it was suggested in court documents that Dershowitz was around Epstein frequently and was comfortable with the abuse he was seeing.
So, this is the guy that Republicans are glad to welcome!? The same party that wanted the Epstein files released is now happy to have an Epstein perp in their ranks!?
