The hostel takeover of the USA will plung us into blackouts this summer, coupled with $10 a gallon fuel it will bankrupt many businesses and families while killing many infants and elderly as the temps rise.

Have a plan to keep cool this summer. I know I'm looking for more solar power, deep cycle batteries, a better bicycle, an electric unicycle, etc. These things are crazy expensive right now or simply already not available.

Do we have any info on here for food storage (meat, freezer items)? I know we've talked about freeze drying but are there any other alternatives out there to help preserve your food? We can get a generator but if we can't get fuel that doesn't help us out any. Our ancestors had to do it so there has to be way or is the dehydrating method via salting the only way?

Salt was used a lot, cold smoking too, otherwise, I've been pressure cooking meat into canning jars, trying to get what I can out of the freezer.
