Gunpowder, treason, and plot! When a government (or religious power) becomes treasonous, the resistance will meet it. While the situation was a bit different in the UK in 1605, many of the atrocities that lead to the 5th of November are happening here, right now.

Guy Fawes was a terrorist and should never be remembered for anything other that that. The movie changed who he was and made him a person who changed a fascistic government that was extremely oppressive and controlling. I can think of many others we should remember and practice what they preached about. Gandhi, Martian Luther King, Jesus are a few. Going to war or using violence is never the answer. I have read that the civil war was not exactly necessary as the industrial revolution was ending slavery. Both slavery and the civil war were very dark days in our history and should be avoided. I can not stress this enough, we change local first and branch outward. Local elections is our focus. Look at what happened on Tuesday! Huge!! We can not let each other go back to sleep. We need to stay vigilant and focus on who we elect. We need to have people watch the polls at every angle. We need to find the lions and forget about the sheep. The momentum is swinging in our favor.

King James was horrible. Resistance to the crown is inevitable when a futal system oppress the people. Perhaps my point isn't clear. Even you @Boogeyman were at a point of wanting to takw life when you had no answers to the tyranny happening. Take this history for whatever way you want, but learn it and give your thoughts on it. You can't take a side, if you don't know what you're fighting for.

The real history is not how Antifa or left wing radicals paint it or bend it to their will... those assholes are changing the history books to server their plan.

It's interesting how people's perceptions change as they learn.
