I'm not sure of all the benefits for me particularly, but I'm hopeful. I just completed a 3 day dry fast. No food or water. It's amazing what the body is capable of. I didn't feel nearly as dehydrated as I thought I would. I was still urinating once a day. I lost about 10lbs (mostly fat). The body took fat and hopefully other toxins, parasites, bacteria and dead cells and converted them to water. My stomach was in slight discomfort on day two end, little light headed too, but I also did not do a few water fasts in preparation. There is an entire protocol for fasting. I am stubborn and did not follow very close. If you want more info, I have two books to suggest (or watch videos on YouTube of these two authors). Those books are The Phoenix Protocol by August Dunning (recommend first, easier to relate, very scientific, his videos might be a good start) and the "father of studies", Dry fasting 20 questions and answers by Sergey Filonov. These two guys can pretty much tell you how and why the benefits. Start short fasting, toxin dumps are no joke, depending on what you've been eating and exposed to over the years, it may be more uncomfortable than my experience was.
 
The wife has been doing a fair amount of fasting, if you want more info. Also we will report on her newest adventure in it, when she has completed.
