Beaver fur mittens

I took advandage of the last few cold mornings and sewed up a pair of Beaver Fur mittens with a removable felt liner. My wife gave me a mitten making kit from Lure Of The North for Christmas. Inside the box were directions, patterns for different sized hands, bison leather for the outers , felt for the inners, sinue and glovers needles to sew it together. Now, the kit was supposed to include beaver fur and it did not. I know LOTN is in the process of shutting down their online store so I used a beaver pelt that I had on hand. Was i disapointed? Yes , is it the end of the world? Not at all, mistakes happen. After watching a few YouTube videos out on by LOTN i cut the correct sized pattern out for all the pieces id need, felt, leather and beaver. Sewing it together by hand took a bit of time for me, im a chef by trade not a seamstress. I made the liners first and they felt a little big on my hand. I though about trimming them down and am now glad I didnt. Once they get out into the outer mitten they snugged right up. They aren't perfect but boy oh boy are they warm. Ill figure out how im going to clean up the mitten opening another day.
